grandma

My weekend was good and bad. Good because I got to see Grandma, and bad because I got to see Grandma :/
Sooooooo... Grandma's been in the hospital for almost two weeks because she got pnemonia, and while she was there she had a heart attack. Only 20% of her heart works properly now and heart cells do not repair themselves so thats the way it is for her now. She was hooked up to a million tubes and was heavily sedated. She couldnt talk or open her eyes, even though she was trying to. She just nodded her head when we talked to her. She had a breathing tube down her throat hooked up to a respirator to help her breath. They said she was getting better VERY slowly and thats good news but no one is giving their hopes up because my two older cousins have both been nurses for years and they know that's not always promising, not to mention Grandma is 85 years old. At least her mind has always stayed sharp and she's always been totaly sane no matter how her health has been. Everything now depends on if she can breath on her own. They have been turning the respirator down a little each day so her lungs get excersise, but now the doctors are wanting to cut a hole in her throat to put a breathing tube in there if she can't breath on her own. No one wants that, and Grandma has said before to not do that. It would mean she would never be able to talk again or move much or anything, only lay there for the rest of her life. So I don't think that will be an option, however all four of her kids have to agree legaly, since Grandma can't speak for herself right now. So everyone is praying she will be able to breath on her own, thats pretty much key right now. It was really hard to see her like that but I didn't cry. As long as no one else cries, I can usualy hold it together, lol.
